A good origin story is often a daunting task for filmmakers. However, on this occasion, it was done with ease and a nice flare.

I'm not a fan of musicals but in Wonka fashion, each song pushed the story forward and gave meaning to upcoming scenes. @Timothée Chalamet has been on fire as of late, and he portrays a youthful and optimistic Wonka, he was perfect for this role.

And Bravo to the writers the script was well done with charm and whimsical There were moments when it toed the line of being cheesy but quickly reeled it back. The Upma Lumpa was hilarious and a fun addition and wasn't overused. Another funny addition was Keegan Key had me rolling.

My very few issues with the story were the antagonist, I would have liked to have more back story and understanding of the history of the "green book". There were also a few small plot holes but it didn't hurt the story much. Outside of Chalamet and young Calah Lane (Noodle), the rest of the acting was...eh... musically well done, the Cinematography and color were done very well, good ending. Check it out in theaters now.

I'm at odds with this movie because it has a handful of great setups but zero payoffs ZERO! Acting lead by Ali, Roberts, and Hawk with great accompaniment from Bacon and Harrod.

However, all performances were overshadowed by poor writing and plot. Here's what I left the movie NOT knowing the answer to... What's up with the Deer? Flamingo? What did GH actually know? Who is behind all of this? Again what's with the Deer?

Did the bug make his teeth fall out? Did the meds he got even work? among other things. And look maybe the movie was maybe to be a question mark that each person can explore the answers individually. If so it still could have been done better...much better. It's like every time they tried to explain the reasoning behind something it fell flat with a dull excuse not based on certainty It felt like one of M. Knight Shamalan's weird endings.

You know what have been a better movie...if the movie started where it ended, having them trying to navigate their way through the collapse of technology. minus the animals and the daughter talking about Friends so much. it had good acting in some of the more intimate moments. just not a great storyline. But hey I may go back and change my grade later. Watch Leave the World Behind | Netflix Official Site.

Behind The Booth (Record Breaker Edition) With Hitsound

Interview Conducted By A&R Duty on behalf of Solid Guy Magazine

Design & Content-Writing: Mbuba Chiagozie Tochukwu (@agozieee_)

Q. Can We Get To Know You?

A.  My Name is Joshua Abba Jeremiah Also known as HITSOUND. I am a music producer and content creator from Kogi State, Nigeria. I started making music at a very early age and grew up in a family of music lovers. I did not take music seriously until my High school days when I decided to take a career in Rap.
I would perform in class, Church, and every event that had opportunities for emerging artists. Production came after when I was not able to afford recording sessions.
I was producing for myself and working with other upcoming artists to make extra money for myself. Fast forward to this very day, I have been working on a lot of projects and diversifying my reach with daily upgrades to my musical genius

Q. Congratulations on breaking the Guinness World Record! Can you share your initial reaction when you found out you achieved this remarkable feat?

A. I was really excited and happy that I could do it with the help of amazing people around me. It was an amazing experience.

Q. What inspired you to attempt the Longest Recording Marathon, and how did you prepare for such a demanding endeavor?

A. I attempted the record for my love for music, passion for growth, putting My country and culture on the map, and the ever-growing demand for adventure. I put myself to the test as this was my opportunity to show the world what I could do.

It took 3 months of intensive planning and preparation. Rehearsal for abstaining from sleep, camera positioning, and the like of it. The last month before the attempt was more about the venue and mental preparation. I had to prepare myself for the better. With the help of my camera crew and ANR Duty, it was all sorted.

Q. Can you tell us about some memorable moments during the recording marathon with various artists? Any particular collaborations that stood out to you?

A. I would say all the artists brought their A-game to the event. The moment I won't forget is when I almost fell into deep sleep on the second day. It wasn’t easy at all. Day 3 was memorable because Masterkraft came through to show his support. Every day was filled with amazing occurrences that will live in our minds forever.

Q. Afrobeats is a genre known for its vibrant energy and diverse influences. How do you think this genre has evolved over the years, and what role do you see yourself playing in its growth?

A. Afrobeats has progressed drastically over the years with the heavy work being put into the promotion of the culture by the likes of Rema, Davido, Wizkid, Burna and other talented musicians.

I enjoy producing Afrobeats tracks, the reason being that it’s the genre I grew up listening to and it has shaped my tune over time. I enjoy working with artists who know their craft, Once the artist is talented and easy to work with I automatically just vibe with them to make a hit.

Q. Breaking a world record requires immense dedication and perseverance. What kept you motivated throughout the entire process, especially during challenging moments?

A. I would say it’s the thoughts of how important it was to be different and make myself, my family and my team.

QCollaborating with numerous artists must have been a unique experience. How did you manage to bring together such a diverse group of talents, and what did you learn from working with them?

A.  I was able to gather that number of artists with the help of ANR duty. The selection process was done online then other artists were selected at the venue of the event. I learned how flexible making music can be if the artist is highly skilled. It makes the process smooth and enjoyable.

Q. In the world of music production, innovation is key. Are there any new techniques or technologies you explored during the marathon that you believe will shape the future of music production?

A. I can’t say I invented a technological innovation but I would say I understood new techniques in my software that would 10x my work rate. It might be something a lot of producers know so I won't take credit for that.

Q. Afrobeats has gained international popularity. How do you think your achievement contributes to the global recognition of Afrobeats, and what message do you hope to convey through your music and this record-breaking feat?

A. This would definitely open a gateway for exposure to the culture in the production aspect and show the diversity of art through music. My message will always be explained better through my music. It translates way into the minds of every individual who listens to good music and knows what they want in rhythm.

Q. Breaking a Guinness World Record is undoubtedly a significant achievement. What impact do you think this accomplishment will have on your career, as well as the Afrobeats music industry as a whole?

A. This definitely has given me the right exposure; I will use this avenue to teach and raise a new generation of insightful musicians on my social media platforms. As for the afrobeats music industry, so far I keep making great tunes that will continually be a win for the culture.

Q. Lastly, what advice do you have for aspiring producers and musicians who look up to your journey and are inspired by your success?

A. They should never give up on their dreams and aspirations. Work twice as smart every day until you see results. Accompany hard work with prayers and faith in your abilities. Never rush into doing anything until you are ready and have prepared for it.

Music And Moments With Kold Af☔️ {November Edition}

Design: Mbuba Chiagozie Tochukwu (@agozieee_)

Q. What inspired you to pursue a career in the music industry, and how did your journey begin?

A. I’ll start by saying I had always dreamed of being a star since I was little. I had always been involved with music and singing one way or the other. However, I had an early taste of how hard  life could be and I was scared of the countless uncertainties music held. So it remained just that, a dream.

It all started to shift when I realized only music and creativity in general could inspire genuine passion in me. Meeting my now close friend and musician, Aisosa, who encouraged me to go for my dream also fueled me into coming into my decision to damn it all and start the chase for my dream.

Q. Your recent work has gained a lot of attention. Can you tell us about the creative process behind your latest project?

A. Last year, I was introduced to this amazing French producer, BGRZ and he liked my sound. He’s worked so many major names at home and abroad and I was very excited when the idea of the joint E.P was presented. We had created ‘Tension’ first at a session earlier in the year and had a camp in the middle of the year. During the camp, BGRZ would produce first then I write and we record it. The other 5 songs were made in this camp. We wanted something that people could relate to in many aspects.

A collision of emotions and experiences, that’s what our 6-track E.P represents. Naturally, humans exist having to encounter and deal with multiple emotions and circumstances at the same time. Love, pain, heartbreak, sexual escapades & hope for the future in all our endeavors; we can all relate to those feelings as they make hallmarks in our lives at different stages of them. This is what we were capturing, although concisely.

Q. In a competitive industry, what do you think sets your music apart and resonates with your audience?

A. I believe I’m not walking a path that is orthodox. I fuse the genres I love and create an interesting sound. With time, I’ll unravel and I will be more than just a ‘singer’, my brand will transcend the boundaries of music and permeate other industries like fashion. But speaking of the present, the uniqueness of my voice, versatility, my sound, my lyrics, my message and delivery are what set me apart and will eventually pierce through and get to the world in due time.

Q. How do you balance staying true to your artistic vision while also adapting to industry trends?

A. Most times, when I make music, I do what flows and goes at the moment. But once in a while, I recognize the trends and note what I’m willing to include or infuse into what I’m creating. My manager, Excel Joab, who’s also an excellent A&R and helps navigate these things as well.

Nonetheless, my sound takes the PRIORITY, because the plan is to eventually create the trends and not follow them through all of my career.

Q. Can you share a memorable moment or experience that has shaped your growth as an artist?

A. The debut of my first 2-track E.P, ‘Kold Szn’. Prior to its release, I had been developing for some time and seeing my growth and improvement all-round but the time had come to test the waters. We needed to see the reception of people, if they’d like what I had become.

And they more than did. The E.P surpassed all our expectations and I got to perform in places I didn’t think I would just yet.

Q. As a female artist, do you face unique challenges in the industry, and how do you navigate them?

A. At first, it was quite hard to get pitched to labels, investors or distribution companies based on the fact that I am female. They couldn’t accommodate multiple women at a time or any at all while that’s as not the case for our male counterparts. I was never sad or hurt by this though, I know who I am and i knew that value is what would turn their heads regardless.

However, there’s recently been a surge and change in this status-quo.

It’s been opening up gradually and I believe now is the time for women in the game to come out and come up.

Also, I think initially, I experienced some subtle prejudices in many ways. One being the concluded lowered expectations people would have before I even speak or sing. But I didn’t mind this either, I love to burst people’s heads.

Q. Collaboration is key in the music world. Is there a dream collaboration you have in mind, and why?

A. I have a list of collabs I’d love to have. It’s not just the one artist for me because I think they all have diverse styles that will blend differently with me. If I had to name a few, I’d say Burna boy, Beyonce, Wizkid, Rihanna, Yebba, Drake, Haile WSTRN amongst others.

Q. How do you connect with your fans, and what role do they play in your creative process?

A. The best way so far is through content, shows and my growing my community on platforms like Telegram. Shows so far, have been the most intimate for me though. I get to sing to them, interact with them and speak to them before, during or after my performances. I get to hear from the horses mouths; what they feel about my music, their favorite tracks, their reasons, what they like visually/aesthetically about me and much more.

Q. What advice do you have for aspiring female artists looking to make their mark in the music industry?

A. I’d say to expect everything, learn a lot, find your people, stay humble, work hard and hold onto God. You’re nothing without Him.

Q. What's next for you in terms of upcoming projects and future goals?

I have more jams in the vault that I hope to let out next year. Announcements will be made on all my socials, @sheiskold, in due course. As for goals, i pray for grace so you’ll see them happen as they come.

The Marvels: Movie Review: So first off making a movie is tough and shout to all envoled in making this.

Now! Marvel what in the world are you doing? This movie struggles to find its footing with a poorly done script with lines like "Oh captain my captain" and "use that black girl magic".

Though the premise was good just failed in execution. These characters have little to no depth and very hard to connect with any of them.  Nick Fury has no real purpose in this film he didn't change the story at all.  None of the subplots worked.

The antagonist needed a deeper storyline and should have focused on her "Why" much more because she had a decent reason for doing what she did. And I don't want to spoil it but I almost walked out TWICE... and IYKYK. again the premise was good and they should have taken more time with the script and characters.

But if you take Fury the Cats and sing out the movie is 30% better. Sadly the best part of the movie was the post-credit scene that had my theater roaring in excitement. Check it out in theaters now.

Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes...(A-)

It feels great to go to the movies and leave satisfied. This film was a masterfully orchestrated origin for President Snow. The movie meticulously moves his life, love, and search for freedom. Snow has one of the most developed character arch I've seen in a while.

By the end, you left kinda on his side. Tom Blyth led an amazing cast. Rachel Zegler was phenomenal, she brought a magnetic energy that begs for your attention. Along with near-flawless performances by Peter Dinklage - Tyrion Lannister and Viola Davis, the acting was as pure as water.

Seeing the more archaic version of the games was exciting. The visual storytelling was clean some moments could have used a little more TLC. Other than our main two characters we don't get much background on anyone else. Snow's best friend with a rich dad felt like he used his money to conveniently get the writers out of a jam. At its core, this was about love, friendship, and manipulation. Go check it out in theaters now!

Netflix released a new horror series on October 31, just in time for Halloween. The Origin: Madam Koi Koi is a Nigerian production that explores the legend of Madam Koi Koi, a vengeful spirit who haunts boarding schools and preys on students at night.

The series is set in an isolated college that has a dark history of sexual violence and corruption and follows the story of Amanda, a new student who has a mysterious connection to the past.

The Origin: Madam Koi Koi is a thrilling and suspenseful series that blends folklore, mystery, and drama. The series features a talented cast of actors, including Martha Ehinome as Amanda, Jude Chukwuka as Baba Fawole, Iretiola Doyle as Mother Superior, and Omowunmi Dada as Madam Koi Koi. The series also boasts impressive cinematography, sound design, and special effects that create a haunting atmosphere and deliver some jump scares.

The series is not only a horror show, but also a commentary on the social issues that plague Nigeria, such as gender-based violence, corruption, religious extremism, and colonialism. The series exposes the horrors that many women and girls face in a patriarchal society and the challenges that they have to overcome to find justice and healing. The series also explores the themes of faith, forgiveness, and redemption, as the characters struggle with their own guilt, trauma, and secrets.

The Origin: Madam Koi Koi is a must-watch for horror fans and anyone who enjoys a good story. The series is based on a real-life folktale that has been passed down for generations in Nigeria and other African countries. The legend of Madam Koi Koi is a terrifying and fascinating one, and the series does a great job of bringing it to life and adding new twists and layers to it. The series is a captivating and chilling tale of revenge and redemption that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One is the seventh installment in the long-running spy action franchise, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Erik Jendresen.

The film stars Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, the leader of the Impossible Mission Force (IMF), who must stop a rogue artificial intelligence (AI) from unleashing a global catastrophe. The film also features Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Mariela Garriga, and Henry Czerny in supporting roles.

The film is a thrilling and spectacular ride that delivers on the high expectations set by the previous films in the series. The action sequences are jaw-dropping and inventive, showcasing Cruise’s dedication to performing his own stunts. The film was shot in various locations around the world, including Italy, Norway, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates, giving it a grand and exotic feel.

The cinematography by Fraser Taggart is stunning and immersive, capturing the beauty and danger of each setting. The editing by Eddie Hamilton is fast-paced and smooth, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats, and the music by Lorne Balfe.

MY REVIEW

This film is definitely a defining film of the action genre. Very aggressive and active camera work every frame was filled with energy.  Christopher McQuarrie nearly abandoned medium and medium close shoots and went full tilt with close-ups literally I'm all Dutch angled out.

The moments of suspense and anxiety were on 10 they really pushed the tension.  What I didn't like was tongue-in-cheek and exposition dialogue moments. The whole AI thing was cool but I wish they would have shown how it was predicting behavior because that was a reach. Also, the biggest issue I had was with Grace, the whole movie hinged on Ethan caring about her "so" much when he just met her, and at no point did she do anything to help him.

So here's my fix...just use Thandie Newton's character from MI2  she was a thief she would have fit perfectly. Same lines and everything but it would have made the stakes more realistic.  But it was still a good movie.  In theaters now.
