Laycon, Wizkid, Others React as Omah Lay and Tems are Detained in Uganda;Ask Government to Intervene

What started out as a minor issue seem to be going sideways. Omah Lay, Tems, and Stanley (all Nigerian entertainer) were in Uganda last weekend to perform on invitation. However, the Ugandan authorities arrested them on the grounds of breaking COVID'19 restrictions which might lead to the spread of the infection. At first, there were arrangements to release the trio but was revoked after their case files were approved. They have all been detained till Wednesday when they might be charged to court.

Many Nigerians are not taking this well as people believe if anyone will be arrested, it shouldn't be foreign artists but those who organized the show. It was also stated that this feels like a malicious prosecution looking at the fact that the authorities might have known about the event even before the Nigerian artists arrived.

N
ot only Nigerians but celebrities are also not taking it funny. The likes of Laycon Rema, Fireboy, Teni have also reacted to the issue in Uganda with many calling on the Nigerian Embassy in Uganda to intervene. You'll recall something similar happened to US entertainer, Rocky ASAP, and the Donald Trump administration responded swiftly.

We await more information from Uganda.
