Davido's "A Better Time" Not Among The Top 5 Nigerian Albums (See Full List)
The year of the Pandemic surprisingly turned out to be a better year for African music and the Nigerians may have led the way in terms of dropping commercially successful projects in Africa. Nigeria's entertainment scene which could be regarded by many as the "Giant industry" of its kind in the African continent certainly did incredibly well this year while satisfying the expectations of several fans.
What we may call the Pandemic year saw the release of several big albums , EP's and hit songs from various already made Artistes and well as a few breakout stars. Burna Boy's "Twice as Tall", Wizkid's "Made In Lagos" and Davido's "A Better Time" are arguably the most talked-about music projects of the year. However, based on streams , the leading music streaming Giant Spotify may present a different perspective.
Although Davido's "A Better Time" could pass as one of the 10 biggest albums this year, the streaming numbers (on Spotify only) couldn't bring it to the top 5 on the Spotify platform.
Data from Spotify compiled and released by Top Charts Naija indicates that Burna Boy topped the charts for having the most streamed Nigerian album on Spotify. Wizkid who is at number 2 had only almost half of Burna Boy's streams . Davido sits at number 7; behind 2Baba , Adekunle Gold, Omah Lay and Tiwa Savage.
