Super Eagles of Nigeria and Granada of Spain football club star Ramos Azeez has made it known to people that he knew working hard will be the key to return him back to the Nigeria national team after five years of absent and he started that years ago.

The Spanish Laliga Santander star said he was happy to be back in the Super Eagles team after being shunned for several years, but the midfielder was given a call up to Nigeria Super Eagles after scoring a crucial goal in Granada 2-0 victory over FC Barcelona last year.

Ramon Azeez who was former Nigeria Golden eaglets and Flying Eagles star debuted for Nigeria super eagles in 2014 against the Mexican national team in an international friendly match and he was part of late coach Stephen Keshi's squad that played in Brazil 2014 world cup.

In a chat with AOI Ramon Azeez said hard work and dedication helped him to return to the Super Eagles because he really learned a lot of lessons during his five years of absent.

"Hard work and dedication to my game helped me to return to the Super Eagles. Those five years really taught me a lot and I knew I needed to work very hard to deserve a recall."

The former Almeria midfielder continued saying he was really frustrated and he felt the pain but he was determined.

"It was frustrating and painful you know. I really felt the pain but I was determined. I was delighted when I got a fresh call from the coach and I knew it was due to the hard work put in." He concluded.

Azeez came to limelight again after scoring a minute goal against FC Barcelona in his club's victory and since then he has been part of Nigeria super eagles squad, by getting regular call up to the team and he was part of the squad invited for the qualifier matches against the Sierra Leone national team slated for March and April before it was postponed till further notice due to Coronavirus pandemic.

He has now resumed training with Granada as the Spanish Laliga Santander is set to resume next month after a long break because of Covid-19 pandemic.

Shanghai Shenhua is ready to allow Odion Ighalo remain at Manchester United until January 2021, Sky Sports reports.

Both clubs are still negotiating on extending Ighalo’s loan deal which runs out at the end of May.

The 30-year-old may, however, not be able to return to China in time for the new season, because of border restrictions.

Shanghai Shenhua initially said they would only agree to extend his loan if an obligation to buy was inserted into the deal.

It is now believed the Chinese Super League side will now allow him to continue playing for United.

However, as a condition of him being allowed to extend his stay at Old Trafford, Ighalo is expected to sign a new deal with them.

An alleged case of malpractice charged against People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke by the federal government has been withdrawn.

Recall that during the heat of the Osun state governorship election campaign in 2018, Adeleke and one of his relatives, Sikiru Adeleke, were accused of engaging in examination malpractice.

Ademola and Sikiru were accused of impersonation, registering as students of Ojo-Aro Community Grammar School, Ojo-Aro, Osun State to enable them to sit for the National Examinations Council (NECO) examination of June/July 2017.

They were later arraigned before a Federal High Court in Abuja in October 2018 along with Alhaji Aregbesola Mufutau (the school principal), Gbadamosi Thomas Ojo (registrar) and Dare Samuel Olutope, a teacher in the school. The other three defendants were accused of aiding the commission of the alleged offence.

At the resumed hearing of the case on Thursday, May 28, the prosecution lawyer, Simon Lough said the state has amended the charge to exclude Adeleke, in view of his continued absence in court. Adeleke has failed to attend court since last year when he was granted permission, by the trial judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, to travel to the United States on medical grounds.

The Nation reports that lawyers to the defendants, led by Alex Izinyon (SAN) did not object to the prosecution’s decision to amend its charge. They however disagreed with the prosecution on the appropriate order to be made; whether Adeleke should be simply discharged, based on the withdrawal of the charge against him, or whether he should be discharged and acquitted.

Justice Ekwo has fixed ruing on the issue for today Friday, May 29.

The governor, who met with the victims, deceased families and the council of chiefs at their townhall in Abonema on Monday said their bank account numbers would be credited with the amount of money due them from Wednesday.

There were indications that the families of 37 persons, who paid the supreme price, were entitled to N9m compensation each.

Despite moves to see the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over the decision of the National Working Committee of the party to adopt Direct Primaries for the upcoming process to elect a candidate for the Edo State governorship election, the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has not done so, The Eagle Online can confirm.

According to inside sources, Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State, has been around in the country and is not averse to seeing the embattled Governor of Edo State, who has been locked in a supremacy battle with his predecessor and National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, The Eagle Online was told.

According to the sources, Obaseki has not even reached out directly to Tinubu since he vowed to do so after the decision of the NWC last week adopting direct primaries for choosing the party’s candidate for the September 2020 election.

The fear in Obaseki’s camp is that the Governor will be overwhelmed at the primaries, where the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the last governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, had been drafted into the APC and given a waiver to stand for the poll.

Oshiomhole is backing Ize-Iyamu’s candidacy.

Insiders in Tinubu’s Ikoyi, Lagos State home told NEWS DIRECT that Obaseki had not called Tinubu because of the manner in which he acted to the National Leader of the APC when his relationship with Oshiomhole was gradually breaking down.

He was said to have spurned Tinubu and other leaders of the party then when there were moves to reconcile them.

His argument had been that he knew where Tinubu belonged in the crisis and that he was not going to allow anyone prevail on him to stop the battle he had begun.

The source said: “He didn’t behave well at the time when there were efforts to reconcile them.

“His belief was that he had the capacity to fight till the end.”

One of the sources, however, told NEWS DIRECT that rather than reach out directly to Tinubu, Obaseki’s aides have been calling top aides of the former Lagos State Governor to have feelers of the position of the APC National Leader.

One of the sources said: “There is no doubt that Asiwaju will see him (Obaseki), if he comes around.

“In fact, based on media reports, Asiwaju has been expecting him.

“He is the one who has failed to contact him directly.

“You don’t expect anyone to fix such a meeting when he has Asiwaju’s number.

“But instead of doing that, he has been testing the waters.

“Let me tell you the truth: Asiwaju will see him whenever he decides to come around.

“But there is only one thing that won’t change: Asiwaju will not go against the decision of the NWC to adopt direct primaries for the election in Edo.”

Sensational singer, Mr Eazi has lamented after he made less money than he thinks he deserves from one of his songs with high streams.

The singer vents out his pain on micro-blogging platform, Twitter, where he said that his song which appears to be a hit and has been streamed about 10million times has only earned him a revenue that’s less than $5000.

He lamented that the revenue generated from the stream was way less than the amount expected. The song which had 10 million streams was only able to generate $5000 which is nearly 2 million in naira.

He wrote: “Looking at this 10million streams on this song on this platform amazing how that translates to less than $5000 in revenue! Magic Stuff!! Thus is the story of the hit song lol”

Kelechi Iheanacho obviously didn't do much of exercing during the lockdown as the 23-year-old resumed training at Leicester City on Wednesday with protruding stomach and robust cheeks.

The Nigeria striker was one of the club's players that trained in small groups to begin preparation for restart of the 2019-2020 Premier League season in June.

The former Manchester City player now must work his socks off to be considered for selection by Brendan Rodgers.

After leaving on the fringes for the major part of the campaign, the U17 World Cup winner stormed back to reckoning following injury to England striker, Jammy Vardy. He weighed in with some Cup goals with three league goals and as many assists, to take his total haul to 28 goals in 81 appearances for the Foxes since he joined them from Manchester City in 2017.

Iheanacho in a statement on his Instagram page on Thursday, expressed his delight at returning training after almost three months of lockdown.

"Good to be back missed everything," stated the player upon arriving at training, as portrayed by the picture above taken beside his car.

Unlike his Nigeria team-mate, Wilfred Ndidi, overweight has been the major challenge of the Imo State indigene and has had to shed some to be fit for selection.

Iheanacho has featured in 12 league matches for the former Premier League champions this season.

Rinji Peter Bala before his demise was a promising young man, who was currently in 300 level at the University of Jos. Rinji was 20-yaers-old, and that's good for someone of his age in this country to be in the level he is in school, this depicts that Rinji is brilliant and is determine to achieve his set goals in school.

His death came as a shock to his family, friends and University mates, no one will ever believe that a promising young man such as Rinji will die all of a sudden. The testimonies on Rinji during his funeral has been an encouraging one as family, friends and loved one's testify that Rinji has been a good son, friend and brother, He is not the troublesome one and very peaceful.

In as much as death is inevitable, I don't think its ever God's plan for any of his child to die painfully as Rinji died. His parents are seeking for Justice, His friends are seeking for Justice, His siblings are seeking for Justice, his mates at school are seeking for Justice and the society at large are seeking for Justice for Rinji as his death is underserved if the security had done their part well.

The unfortunate death of Rinji came when an information was received At about 10 pm on 12 May 2020, on the activities of suspected armed robbers and cultists operating around His street in Jos South LGA of Plateau State.

According to the report, the criminals took advantage of the lockdown and curfew to perpetrate crimes. Consequently, Sector 1 patrol troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) swiftly responded and arrested 7 suspects, which were immediately moved to the Headquarters Sector 1 for preliminary investigation.

During the investigation on the arrested suspects which Rinji was one, 5 out of the 7 suspects were cleared and asked to leave the premises including Rinji. Unfortunately, as they were leaving, one of the personnel on duty mistook them for escaping suspects and opened fire on them, which led to the death of Mr Rinji Bala.

The above was the story narrated by the OPSH commander, but more investigation are been made to find out the real truth behind Rinji's death.

May his peaceful soul continue to rest in the bosom of our Lord. Amen.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, has said President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to extend the eased lockdown for another two weeks is to try and contain the spread of COVID-19, before the economy is fully reopened.

Mustapha, who is also the chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, stated this during the daily media briefing on Tuesday.

The first phase of the eased lockdown expired on Monday, May 18.

Buhari has now extended it by another two weeks until June 1.

Mustapha called on schools, places of worship, businesses, offices, etc to use this period to plan and adopt new strategies under a COVID-19 era in line with the guidelines.

According to Mustapha, the decision to reopen the economy slowly, is based on “current experiences from different countries and expert advice”.

He said: “Again, I wish to repeat that the decision is not punitive, we share your pains and also share your concerns. However, our future remains in our hands and compliance is one of the keys to opening that future.

“I must also emphasise that the two additional weeks should be utilized by businesses, offices, professional bodies, places of worship, educational institutions, etc awaiting reopening to plan and adopt new strategies under a COVID-19 era in line with the guidelines.

“Above all, behavioral change is a must for every citizen because COVID 19 has changed the world completely.”

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday night, announced 226 new cases.

It brings the tally in the country to 6,401.

The letter noted that Ibrahim-Imam’s appointment takes effect from May 14, 2020 and runs for four years, after which it would be reviewed.

“I write to convey to you the approval of His Execellency, Muhammadu Buhari, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, of your appointment as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) in Abuja with effect from May 14, 2020,” the letter read.

“The conditions of service and remunerations of this appointment are guided by the Public Service Rules and Extant Circulars. Please, accept my congratulations and sincere wishes for a successful tenure,” it said.

He lost on both occasions to Ali Modu Sheriff of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).

WWE throws a bunch of stuff at the screen to see what sticks.

If you had high expectations for King Corbin’s appearance Monday night, you were disappointed. If you were expecting a disaster, you also were disappointed. But if you were watching for bland, largely inoffensive stuff you didn’t have to watch again, then it fit your expectations.

Thus, Corbin’s appearance on Raw as part of the Brand-to-Brand Invitational basically canceled itself out. The rest of Raw, however, wasn’t too shabby overall. WWE seems to have figured out how to throw a bunch of stuff at the screen and see what sticks. As long as more clicks than clangs, then they can keep getting passing marks.

With most matches clocking in at 2-4 minutes each, Monday certainly wasn’t about the wrestling, despite the opening segment being centered on a discussion about wrestling. We saw Edge and Randy Orton renew hostilities and set up for a rematch next month. We saw Zelina Vega’s herd thinned a bit, while Seth Rollins went Dumpster diving afterward to recruit a new charge.

We saw MVP looking to increase his net worth on Raw, Apollo Crews and Kevin Owens return, Asuka go on the hunt, and Charlotte Flair preen for everyone. And lastly, we saw axes get thrown.

There’s a lot to cover, so let’s get to it…

Downs…

5. Can The Humberto Experiment Be Done?

Raw Humberto Carillo
WWE.com

Look, Humberto Carrillo is a young superstar who shows promise. But after watching him for the past few months, it’s safe to say he isn’t the next major Latino superstar.

Carrillo is good in the ring, but not great. His promos are getting better, but aren’t there yet. He’s just not clicking how he should be if he’s going to be the guy defending Rey Mysterio’s honor. He’s almost like the unqualified understudy – good enough to be the emergency option, but you pray the star doesn’t literally break a leg.

Humberto fell in relatively short order to Murphy Monday night after a Seth Rollins distraction. During the match itself, we saw the usual flurry of offense from Carrillo (and Murphy, for that matter), a brief, uninspired match.

It got the point across, but it seemed like a waste. You could have just had Murphy jump Carrillo when he came out to defend Rey and then have Aleister Black save.

4. That’s Not How To Win People Over

Liv Morgan Raw
WWE.com

Why was Liv Morgan crying so much?

These backstage promos are taped, right? If so, then what aired Monday night was inexcusable. If it was live, then the agents didn’t practice it enough with Morgan. During Raw, Liv talked about how mother is her hero, how she’s full of determination and never quits. She sounded like she was about to cry as she said this, transitioning to her match against Charlotte Flair last week, and how Liv is just like her mother – full of determination.

It was a pedestrian promo at best, but the delivery was awful. There’s “plucky underdog,” and then there’s “whiny weakling.” “I might be small and outmatched, but I try my hardest!” That’s not the promo of someone you want to see wrestle.

Look, Liv Morgan has improved in the ring, and this writer is rooting for her. But that was a dud of a promo.

3. At Least It Was Brief

IIconics Alexa Bliss
WWE.com

Question: Have the IIconics have one good wrestling match since they were called up to the main roster? Or even one passable match?

The obnoxious duo returned to Raw last week and earned a title shot by defeating the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross. This week, they got that title match… and promptly lost by DQ in less than 3 minutes. The match itself wasn’t even decent. The IIconics got about 30 seconds of offense before Bliss tagged in and hit Twisted Bliss, only for Peyton Royce to break up the pin and get overzealous throwing Alexa into the post for the disqualification.

The Aussies then teased dissension when Billie Kay slapped Royce for costing them their one title shot, but they hugged it out.

This wasn’t terrible, but after a “big return” and victory over the tag champs, to have things go down like that was just a head-scratcher.

2. Hyperbole Much?

Raw Edge
WWE.com

Does Edge versus Randy Orton in a straight-up wrestling match have the potential to steal the show? Of course it does. Both men are decorated, consummate professionals who are among the best in the business.

But to pre-emptively bill this as possibly “the greatest wrestling match ever”?

Come on now.

Even if Edge/Orton delivers a classic, you’re putting impossible hype on top of a guy who hasn’t wrestled a real one-on-one match in nine-plus years, and a guy who is known for being on cruise control at times, without the benefit of a crowd to help pump up your adrenaline.

It’s a recipe for a letdown, even if it’s a really good match. Worse, you know the announcers will sell it on the Raw after Backlash as living up to the hype, thus making themselves sound like idiots.

Call it “one for the ages,” or “a clash of the titans” or something like that. But this branding is just terrible.

1. Poochie Flair

Raw charlotte Flair
WWE.com

On The Simpsons, there was an episode with a cartoon (within the cartoon) character named Poochie who the creators thought would save Itchy & Scratchy, but was hated by the fans. Homer’s bright idea to make him better? Make him louder and angrier, and whenever he wasn’t on-screen, other characters would ask, “Where’s Poochie?”

WWE’s version of Poochie today is Charlotte Flair.

Flair is a Raw superstar holding the NXT Women’s Championship who is challenging SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley this Friday. Got all that?

Oh, and Charlotte trounced Ruby Riott Monday night. That’s not to say that she shouldn’t have defeated Riott, but she’s now beaten Liv Morgan, Io Shirai, Riott and likely will come out looking superior to Bayley later this week.

The answer to WWE’s ratings woes isn’t MORE CHARLOTTE. But don’t expect the company to get that memo. They’ll just continue to oversaturate their programming with her until everyone is sick of Flair.

And now to the positives...

Ups…

9. Ax Throwing Hits Target, Misses Bullseye

Viking Raiders Raw
WWE.com

Last week’s pickup basketball game between the Street Profits and Viking Raiders was humorous enough, plus it let all four men have a little fun without being goofy with in-ring promos. It also meant you knew we’d have another segment this week.

Monday night, we got a multi-part segment focused on ax throwing, the Raiders’ strong suit. Erik and Ivar obviously were pros at hitting the target, while Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford struggled just to avoid hitting other people.

They clearly tried for humor throughout the segment, with it working somewhat, though not as well as last week. Hopefully, this was the last of these ventures and we can get back in the ring for the actual challenge for the Raw Tag Team Championship.

While this was a nice diversion that showed a bit more to the Raiders and played to the Profits’ natural charisma, there is a tag title feud to further.

8. The Man Gets Stellar Video Sendoff

Becky lynch
WWE.com

It bears mentioning again, but WWE’s video package department is top-notch.

The people in that office put together a hell of a video tribute to Becky Lynch Monday night, tying together her promo from last week with clips of her NXT debut and rise to superstardom, all the way to WrestleMania 35’s main event. It was a fun little journey, bringing her career all the way to the present, where she relinquished her Raw Women’s Championship so that it could be the real prize in the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match.

The video was a powerful way to send Lynch – one of WWE’s biggest superstars at the moment – off to motherhood without simply replaying last week’s promo with some cheesy music and special effects.

It’s a shame to lose Becky for the next year or so, but she got to go out on top… plus it just writes a hell of an opening for a comeback story in 2021.

7. Baszler Rolls

Shayna Baszler Natalya Raw
WWE.com

The outcome of the submission match between Shayna Baszler and Natalya was never really in doubt, but the brief match at least was intense and vicious-looking.

Nattie and Shayna traded submission holds, with Niedhart locking in a Sharpshooter after Baszler told her that the “Hart Family crap doesn’t work on me.” But Shayna reversed out of a kneebar, locked in the Kirafuda Clutch, and got the tap-out win. It was exactly what Baszler needed – a straightforward win in a no-nonsense match. It keeps her strong and reinforces that she can make experienced wrestlers tap.

Now, Nattie’s temper-tantrum afterward is something else. That wasn’t exactly entertaining, mainly because it’s Natalya – it’s hard to really get invested in her in the same way you might with another wrestler. But your mileage might vary.

6. Feud In Reverse

Raw Randy Orton Edge
WWE.com

Typically, a stipulation such as a Last Man Standing match is the end of a long, personal, vicious feud. But in the case of Randy Orton and Edge, it was the beginning, and now we’re progressing (regressing?) to a traditional one-on-one wrestling match.

Listening to Orton say “wrestling” over and over was somewhat surreal in a company where that’s almost a dirty word. He talked about how athletes are a dime a dozen and can’t do what he does. That brought out Edge, who pointed out that wrestling was Orton’s backup plan, that just because he’s gifted in the ring doesn’t mean it’s anything more than a paycheck for him.

It’s an interesting way to build toward the match, pitting Orton’s natural in-ring talents against Edge’s heart and grit. With Edge still riding his road back to active competition, it’s a great setup to see if he can hang with one of the best in-ring performers in Orton.

Now, calling it potentially “the greatest wrestling match ever,” we’ve already panned. But the story buildup is pretty nice so far.

5. Delusional Rollins

Raw Seth Rollins
WWE.com

Listening to Seth Rollins deliver one of his calm, yet unhinged, promos is pretty entertaining. He’s delusional, but just believable enough to make it work.

Rollins thanked Rey Mysterio for pulling him out of the depths and darkness of despair after his Money in the Bank loss to Drew McIntyre, noting that “what happened to Rey” has been described as both heinous and disgusting, and penance. But Seth called it “unfortunate,” a necessary sacrifice for the greater good.

Man, if he invests in a compound and starts buying firearms, the FBI better jump on this guy.

As has been said before, this is one of those character beats where you wish there was an audience to react to his ramblings, because it’s pretty spot-on.

4. Rollins Recruits Another Convert

Austin Theory Seth Rollins
WWE.com

One woman’s trash is another man’s treasure. At least, that’s how Seth Rollins viewed Zelina Vega’s former charge Austin Theory.

Theory got bounced from Vega’s stable after heel miscommunication led to Angel Garza getting pinned. Austin was beat up ringside afterward and was still there when Murphy faced Aleister Black. And in an eerily similar manner to how Rollins recruited Murphy months ago, the Black Hand of Raw enlisted Theory to attack Black, leading to a beatdown of Aleister.

And just like that, Theory went from castoff to part of Rollins’ pseudo-religious cabal. Nicely done.

3. MVP Goes For The Hard Sell

One of the biggest complaints this column has had about Bobby Lashley is all the start-and-stop pushes he’s received during his two years back with the company. He’s been involved in subpar feuds and wrestled lower-level talent when he should be competing against upper-card wrestlers.

MVP called all of that out Monday night when he noted that he and Lashley wouldn’t be working together because Lashley’s focus is on clowns like R-Truth and his wife Lana. MVP then asked why Bobby wasn’t putting his Full Nelson on a WWE champion, asking, “When is Lashley going to free Lashley?”

It was a great little way to call attention to Lashley’s own booking problems and make it part of a storyline – but in a smart way. MVP as his manager could guide him toward top-tier matches.

2. Crews Ups His Game

Apollo Crews returned to action Monday night after a three-week absence, lamenting his lost opportunity at Money in the Bank, but noting that the pieces are falling into place for him to achieve something.

Crews teamed up with another returning superstar, Kevin Owens, to defeat Angel Garza & Andrade (who injured Crews a few weeks ago) after some heel miscommunication from Austin Theory. Apollo later talked about looking for the final piece falling into place and how he was challenging Andrade for the United States Championship again next week.

Probably the best part was seeing Zelina Vega show up during Crews’ interview and bad-mouthing him, only for Apollo to stop her, ask where Andrade was, and tell her he was going to finish his interview. It was more personality than Crews has shown in the last three years combined.

If he really is a pet project of Paul Heyman’s, then it stands to reason he’ll get a fair shake. Here’s hoping after bouncing around for several years that he can make something of this opportunity.

1. Asuka Shows No Fear

New Raw Women’s Champion Asuka wasted no time in erasing any doubt that she was now officially a babyface.

The Empress of Tomorrow celebrated her title win Monday night, thanking Becky Lynch and basking in being a Grand Slam Champion (NXT, SmackDown, Raw and WWE Women’s Tag titles). But her celebration was cut short when Nia Jax came out and noted that Lynch was simply out on maternity leave, and Asuka lucked into the “greatest temp job” ever.

Thankfully, this didn’t turn into Jax being a dominating challenger who beats up the new champ, as Asuka attacked and knocked Nia out of the ring. Later, Jax attacked Kairi Sane, prompting Asuka to hunt her down and drop her with a head kick.

Jax will likely get a chance to get revenge next week, but the Empress needed to come out of the gate looking strong, which she definitely did going after Nia.
